Why is "Jingle Bells" considered a Christmas song, when the lyrics are not about Christmas?

There are other songs that we traditionally associate with Christmas that also have no reference to Christmas in the lyrics. For this question, let's just stick to "Jingle Bells".

Why is "Jingle Bells" considered a Christmas song, when the lyrics are not about Christmas?
There are a few other songs that are considered Christmas songs that don't even mention Christmas, for example "Frosty The Snowman," "Let It Snow," "Winter Wonderland," and "Baby It's Cold Outside." I think the common thread is having fun in the wintertime.
Reply:Because bell's are associated with Christmas!!! I have no idea why!!! But they are!!!!!
Reply:I think Jingle Bells is just a song for the holidays. Not really a Christmas song.
Reply:Because the sound of "jingle bells" is associated with Santa's sleigh.
