What's up with people who hate Christmas?

I know people who belong to mainstream Christian denominations but passionately hate Christmas. I'm not talking about some of the fringe denominations that don't believe in Christmas. I'm talking about everyone else at church is excited to be celebrating.

These people don't want any gift giving, no decorations, no special symbolism whatsoever. "Christmas is just another day." They scoff at charity work and bell ringers. It's as though these people hate celebrations.

What is up with this?

What's up with people who hate Christmas?
They are grumpy.
Reply:You need to get yourself a different church. These people ain't right.
Reply:i have no idea (humbugs!!!!!!!!) maybe they are upset that something so meaningful has turned into something so commercial? who knows with people these days :-P
Reply:Hate Christmas as in Christ's birthday?

....or hate the marketing driven consumer frenzy the "Holiday Season" has become?

I don't mind a peaceful day with the kids and grandkids, or opening a package from my sister with some new crazy hat......

.... or Midnight Mass, if the place wasn't jammed to the rafters with screaming babies and sweaty fat people reeking of perfume.

.... or an easy 10 mile run at dawn in 3" of new snow.

You can take your malls, lights, traffic, bell ringers and the rest of it and shove them where the midnight sun don't shine!
Reply:Perhaps they don't see a point to it.
Reply:I think its just really hard for some people to get into the spirit of the holidays. Maybe Christmas wasn't a big deal in their house growing up. Don't let them dampen your holiday spirit. Merry Christmas!
Reply:I don't like the hype, the noise, the adverts on TV from October, the false jollity the media urging us to spend spend spend and spend. I hate the endless endless mindless and unmeant platitudes. I find the whole thing over commercial and media driven and any real meaning in the celebration has long since gone. I am not religious, not against the idea of Xmas it has been a festival since civilisation began, as the idea of celebrating the birth of Christ on that day (when Christ was much more likely to have been born in April, as far as I recall. Don't berate me if I misremember, its not that interesting!) was a convenient way f Christianising the Solstice festival that superseded it. I just think its gotten WAY out of hand.
Reply:No, they just care more about the "true" meaning of Christmas and less about all the materialistic crap that goes along with it such as maxing out ones credit cards to pay for gifts and decorations.
Reply:they dont know any better!
Reply:Christmas is a Pagan holiday brought over to Christianity. So its not proper to begin with.

Jesus was not born in December, so the date is wrong as well.

Bible is very CLEAR about not bringing over traditions from other locations, yet Christmas, Easter and others have been allowed over time.

And most forget the story of Moses getting the tablets. What did his followers do while they waited? They made a holiday and said it was a holiday of G_Ds. Since G_D did not create this holiday... what did he do to those people?

So... does one stand with G_D and honor what G_D wants as it states in the bible. Or do we do as man says and trade gifts and do things against G_D to please the devil since this is his world we stand on?
Reply:looks like someone needs a visit from the ghost of christmas past
Reply:That is what I'm thinking, what better way to make money than to to sue a store for having christmas decorations because they "offend" them.
Reply:they dont hate Christmas, they just hate too much commercialization of the holiday at the expense of those who don't know the real meaning of it,

Merry christmas to all the loving people. please, save the world for our Children...
Reply:it could be because of all the media hype. i love christmas, but when radio stations start playing only christmas songs a week before thanksgiving i get a little angry. i mean, i love christmas, but halfway through november is just too early! also family plays a part. i'm only 14, but i'd imagine if someone had no family so speak of and so spent christmas alone, they'd feel really lonely. maybe that's just me; my favorite part of christmas is seeing all my family!
